Withdrawal of Mid Devon District Council Surgeries in Crediton

22 June 2017

The Town Council has been informed by Mid Devon District Council (MDDC) that it will be ending the fortnightly surgery held in the Council Offices, Market Street with effect from 31st  July.

We have been told that the reason for this decision is to allow MDDC “to make better use of staff resource, the visitor number for 2016-17 were 359, this equates to an average of 12-14 customers over the 4 hour period that I have a member of staff at the location. These changes are necessary to ensure I am making the best use of staff time and that I can provide the best service within budget to all our customers throughout Mid Devon across a range of access channels”.

The Town Council strongly objects to the withdrawal of the service and will be engaging with MDDC over the coming weeks to fight this decision, however you and your members can help the efforts to retain the service. If you object to the closure, please write to MDDC’s Chief Executive, Mr Stephen Walford, at Phoenix House, Tiverton.

If you are able to copy us in on your communications, it would be appreciated.

Many thanks for your assistance in this extremely important matter.
