Meet the Mayor

Councillor Liz Brookes-Hocking was elected as Mayor in May 2021 and re-elected in May 2022 and 2023. The Annual Meeting of Crediton Town Council is held in May and this is where Full Council will elect the Mayor & Chairman for the municipal year.

The Mayor has a central role in representing the council and the people of Crediton. The role is non-policitical, instead the focus is on delivering services to the town whilst promoting and encouraging enthusiasm and community spirit.

Cllr Brookes-Hocking regularly attends community events and the Farmers Market. This is an opportunity for electors and residents to raise concerns, ask questions or just enjoy a chat with the Mayor of Crediton. You can also pick up the lastest council publications, including the bi-monthly newsletter.

Attending Events

Representing the town council at civic events is also part of the role. If you would like the Mayor to attend, open or support your event, please call us on 01363 773717 or email reception@crediton.gov.uk. If the Mayor has a prior engagement, the Deputy Mayor, Cllr Steve Huxtable, will be asked to attend as the council's representative.

This year's Mayoral Charity is Crediton Foodbank. Cllr Brookes-Hocking will undertake fundraising throughout her term of office.
