Meet the Mayor
The Annual Meeting of Crediton Town Council is held in May and this is where Full Council will elect the Mayor & Chairman for the municipal year. Councillor Steve Huxtable was elected as Mayor in May 2025.
The Mayor has a central role in representing the council and the people of Crediton. The role is non-policitical, instead the focus is on delivering services to the town whilst promoting and encouraging enthusiasm and community spirit.
"Crediton is a special place - it had that feeling when we first drove through the town and town square. I have been fortunate to meet many extraordinarily talented and determined people and I include my fellow councillors and the dedicated staff in that too! Progress to change and make things happen doesn't always move as I'd like, but there are many balls to juggle, plates to spin and stakeholders to consider too. I have nominated Force Cancer Charity, as the Mayor's charity for the year. They do incredible work and as with many charities rely totally on donations. Their services are free and I cannot ever repay the love, care and support they provided me (and Tina) during a rather grim couple of years of my life. There is a local group who do fantastic work raising funds and awareness of Force".

Attending Events
Representing the town council at civic events is also part of the role. If you would like the Mayor to attend, open or support your event, please call us on 01363 773717 or email reception@crediton.gov.uk. If the Mayor has a prior engagement, the Deputy Mayor, Cllr Guy Cochran, will be asked to attend as the council's representative.
